Do you find that working from home sometimes is more distracting than working in the office? At least, I feel so at beginning. At home, there are always so many things to do: getting a snack during a break, making a cup of coffee, speaking to your partner or roommate who also work from home nowadays, or clean the kitchen after cooking lunch meals. Not only from this, in our daily life, procrastination happens all the time. I always have those one or two things to do, but don’t feel like doing it. How to get things done? I have a small trick for you.
In the past days, I have been using this method for every task that I need to finish in the day. And I have been finishing every single tasks in the day! 😀
It is very simple, you tell yourself (I’d rather think as order myself), in your mind that ‘finish xxx now!’. Then right away, start doing that thing. No excuses and not doing the other things. One by one. Do not spend 3 seconds ‘feeling’ it, because you will never get things done when you start to ‘feel like it’. It is summarised in 3 steps, do this, and let me know how does it work for you.
Step1: decide what you need to do right now
Step2: Tell yourself: finish xxx right now
Step 3: do and finish it!
Voila! it is very easy. It is a bit like a mind game. But as long as it helps me to finish what I need to, I will continue using this trick.
